TECHNICAL THEATRE
This course is designed to prepare students for college and the world of work in the theatre arts industry. Students develop an understanding of the elements of design, including sets and costumes, make-up, lighting, sound, and properties, as well their connection to the play script. Students participate in the practical applications, construction, and technical production of the in-school theatre productions. They explore the difficulties of connecting the design elements with the practical considerations of play production through problem-solving and learning to work well under pressure. Students learn by observing and working with volunteer theatre professionals, and by participating in the hands-on, project-based curriculum and activities of the course. High school student receive elective credits while taking this technical training course that includes theatre production and employability skills.
PREREQUISITES: Age 16 or older
